Rules and Conditions of Entry

The “Plain English” version

  1. You must be a member of the Ipswich Library & Information Service and be aged 13-18 years. If you’re not a member, you can join for free!  Find out how!
  2. Short films, including opening and closing credits, must not exceed 8 minutes.
  3. Enter as many times as you want.
  4. You must get your parents’/guardians’ permission to enter, and you agree to follow the Terms of Service of Flickr and YouTube.
  5. Entries will be judged by a panel. The winners will be the ones that the judges think best represents the theme of the competition. Judges decisions are final, no correspondence will be entered into.  Shortlisted entries in each category will be announced and screened/displayed at a special event at the Ipswich Library. (Date to be advised.)
  6. Keep it clean. Any entries with swearing, nudity or violence will not be accepted.
  7. Prizes will be awarded for a winner and a highly commended entrant in each category.
  8. Be original.  Any entries making use of copyrighted music, images or scripts will not be accepted. You give us the right to use your entry for promotion of our service.
  9. If somebody sues you for using their stuff in your photo/film, we are not involved in any way.

The “Legalese” Version

  3. Multiple entries are permitted.
  4. Entrants are responsible for obtaining parental/guardian approval to enter the competition and abiding by the Terms of Service of Flickr and YouTube.
  5. Judging of the submissions will be made by a panel.  The winning entries will be those which, in the judges opinion, best represent the theme of the competition.  Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.  Shortlisted entries in each category will be announced and screened/displayed at a special event at the Ipswich Library. (Date to be advised.)
  6. Ipswich City Council reserves the right not to accept submissions with content that is not appropriate for a general audience.
  7. Prizes will be allocated for a winner and a highly commended entrant for each category.
  8. All media must be original and the sole work of the entrant/s.  By submitting an entry to the competition, entrants agree to grant Ipswich City Council a perpetual, royalty free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the entry in any media for the promotion of Ipswich Library and its services.
  9. Entrants must only utilise non-copyrighted materials in the production of their entry.  This includes sound recordings, printed media, films, music and sound effects as well as scripts.  Ipswich City Council assumes no responsibility for breach of copyright in submissions.
  10. Entrants agree to release Ipswich City Council, including its servants and agents for any action suit claim demand or proceeding they may otherwise have against them arising out of or in connection with entrant’s participation in the competition including but not limited to any action, suit, claim, demand or proceeding concerning infringement by any person of any intellectual property rights.
  11. By submitting an entry in the competition, the entrant/s agrees to be bound by all guidelines, terms and conditions set forth above and any applicable laws and regulations.
